The Barcelona Pavilion!
We're finally here at Barcelona Pavilion, built by German architect Mies van der Rohe in 1929 for the Barcelona World's Fair. It is modernist architecture's most important shrine. The funny thing is we read so much about it in books that to finally see it makes us have the strange sensation of wanting to bow down at it. Haha... Just to give a sense of how forward-looking it was at that time, we were building shophouses in Singapore in the 1960's.
